QnA with Isha Chopra
1. As a teacher, what inspired you to pursue a career in education, and how has it influenced your life?
During my senior secondary years, I frequently assisted my classmates with their studies, and both friends and classmates often praised my teaching abilities, stating that I helped them understand and excel in their exams. My teachers also acknowledged my potential as a teacher, and that’s when I realized this was a skill worth pursuing as a noble profession. I’m grateful to be an educator and a source of motivation for my students.
2. Could you share a memorable teaching experience that had a significant impact on your students or yourself?
Among the students who sought my guidance in the months leading up to their final board exams, there was one special student who had the potential but lacked self-belief due to the influence of his school teachers, who repeatedly made him retake exams. I took this as a challenge, and he placed his trust in me, saying, “Ma’am, I believe in you, and I’ll follow your guidance to pass.” I wholeheartedly dedicated myself to him, providing unwavering determination and focus while constantly motivating him. He ultimately passed the examination with over 60%, leaving him speechless with gratitude. His mother blessed me and expressed her gratitude, reinforcing my belief that I can truly make a positive impact when someone is in need.
3. As a writer, what themes or genres do you enjoy exploring in your work, and what motivated you to become an author?
I derive immense pleasure from delving into biographies based on romantic, heartrending, or real-life events in my work. It wasn’t until the era of COVID that I discovered my hidden talent for writing. This innate ability had been present since my school days, where I dabbled in poetry, shayari, and short stories without realizing it could become a genuine passion or profession. During the pandemic, as I was scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon an advertisement for online writing competitions. Intrigued, I delved into the requirements and details, finding that they aligned with my writing style and content. I decided to participate, and to my astonishment, I secured a remarkable 3rd place in the competition and received two prestigious awards in the field of writing.
4. Can you tell us about your writing process, and how you balance your writing career with your other roles?
I primarily express myself through my writing, sharing the challenges I’ve faced, my personal experiences, and the lessons I’ve learned that have shaped me into a better person. I don’t find the need to strike a balance because these elements are interconnected. I prioritize authenticity, presenting my stories without any filters, aiming to provide a genuine and enriching learning experience for my audience. My motivation isn’t driven by the desire to earn; rather, I aspire to share my life’s experiences and the valuable lessons I’ve acquired, making people more aware. I aspire to be a source of solace for someone, a place where they can feel comfortable and be themselves without hesitation. My ultimate goal is to inspire others to become the heroes of their own lives, which fuels my passion for becoming an author.
5. Modeling can be a demanding profession. How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance while pursuing a career in modeling?
My role as an educator has shown me that fundamental education has the power to instill hope in individuals, enabling them to lead better and more fulfilling lives. It can also empower people to achieve remarkable feats that benefit not only themselves but the world at large. Being a model has been an opportunity to both uphold my pride and reach a broader audience, inspiring and urging people to embark on extraordinary journeys by stepping out of their comfort zones. My ultimate aspiration is to see every woman shine.
6. What inspired you to enter the world of modeling, and what are some of the challenges and rewards you’ve encountered in this field?
Priyanka Chopra Jonas serves as my greatest source of inspiration for entering the world of pageantry and modeling. She instilled in me the belief that a woman should be self-reliant, influential, and unafraid to seek help from others. Her words about being an extraordinary individual made me realize that I, too, can serve as a role model for those in need of inspiration and reassurance to step outside their comfort zones. She empowers me to chase my dreams and become the woman of my choice, and I aim to be someone who provides courage for others to fulfill their aspirations. Throughout my journey in pageantry and modeling, I have received numerous titles, including the prestigious role of showstopper for Lavistyle Productions. Recently, becoming a finalist in the Miss Face of Humanity India 2023 pageant is a great blessing. The challenges I’ve faced in this field include biased treatment from influential figures, a lack of support and guidance, and the need to conform to certain rules, all of which have posed significant obstacles to overcome.
7. As a teacher, how do you incorporate your experiences as a writer and model into your lessons to inspire your students?
My aspiration is to serve as a genuine source of inspiration for my students by sharing my own experiences in the context of their academic lessons. I want to offer them sound guidance and unwavering support as they pursue their chosen paths and ambitions. My goal is to be their most dependable guide and mentor, helping them become real-world heroes in their own lives. I intend to integrate all the lessons I’ve learned and tailor them to their needs, nurturing them into the best versions of themselves.
8. What advice do you have for aspiring writers who want to pursue a career in literature?
Always keep in mind the reason you entered this field and never allow yourself to be swayed by negative comments or the opinions of those who may lower your self-esteem. Maintain the freedom to express yourself without hesitation, and be the one who presents facts and figures with clarity and beauty, devoid of filters or doubt. Discover a genre that suits you best and put your utmost effort into it. A persistent “never give up” attitude is an essential ingredient for success in your chosen field. Keep that in mind!
9. In the context of all your roles, how do you envision contributing to society or making a positive impact on people’s lives?
As I mentioned earlier, all my roles are interconnected, guided by a single, overarching purpose: to serve humanity to the best of my ability. My aim is to demonstrate that kindness, peace, and love still exist in the world. I aspire to be a beacon of hope, encouraging people not to fear pursuing their dreams and advocating for the universal right to education for all.
10. Can you share a project or achievement that you are particularly proud of in each of your roles as a teacher, writer, and model?
In my role as a teacher, I’ve had the honor of being nominated in the “People for Good” category by the beautiful women’s association associated with Mamaearth and Femina. This recognition acknowledges my efforts in raising awareness about basic education, mental health, and promoting kindness to humanity. I’ve also contributed to the Tycia Foundation’s campaign for tribal girl child education and more.
As a writer, I’ve become a source of motivation for individuals who find the courage to voice their concerns and stand up for themselves.
In my modeling journey, I’ve become an inspiration, proving that it’s never too late to pursue one’s true calling. I am the first girl in my family to become the woman of my choosing, achieving recognition, success, and financial independence. I take pride in being self-reliant, influential, and passionate about my endeavors. I find happiness in what I do and have found peace with it.
